SUPERCHROME TECHNIQUE:

The Ilfochrome (Cibachrome) medium is the best photographic print material in the world.  We use Ilfochrome Classic Super Glossy print or translucent film exclusively.  It has a rich lustrous finish giving an almost iridescent 3D realism unmatched in photographic art.

ILFOCHROME:

Ilfochrome has unequalled permanence, its Azo dyes have the most brilliant colours with greater stability and more resistance to light fading than any others.  Since Ilfochrome produces a pure dye image with no chemical residues
it is considered to be archival.

Chroma Colour pioneered the introduction of Cibachrome
into South Australia thirty years ago. It has been our
speciality ever since.
LONGEVITY:

Some other print processes claim comparable or better resistance to light fading.  Their longevity claims are based on accelerated aging tests and should be regarded with caution.  (No-one evaluates a recipe by baking at ten times the heat for a tenth of the time!)  It is worth remembering that none of these products has been in existence for more than a few years whereas Cibachrome has been commercially available since 1963.  We've had prints on continuous display for over 25 years and they still look great!   Also it is a fact that pigment type inks, being opaque, can never equal the colour gamut of Ilfochrome Azo dyes.

ILFOCHROME IS DIFFERENT!:

Unlike other print material, the chemistry does not make
the colour! Only Ilfochrome has dyes incorporated into the emulsion at manufacture.  The layers of cyan magenta and yellow dye are so pure and intense that a black layer is unnecessary. After exposure and subsequent processing any surplus colour is bleached away leaving a pure dye image.
